HELEM presents Hammam Matouaa May'to!

Hammam Matoua’a Mayto is a music workshop for women, the workshop will be held between the 7th and 8th of August 2010 at Zicco House, Sanayeh, Beirut.

Girls (and likewise identified) interested in music will be able to learn to play instruments, form bands, write songs and play a gig as in a real rock venue.

Hammam Matoua’a Mayto embraces all styles of music and will offer trainings on drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals, as well as self-defence classes and other workshops related to women’s health. Moreover, the workshops will also offer this year a range of activities from practical DJing to discussion panels on how to make and create music.

The showcase gig will be held at 9:30PM on Sunday 8th August 2010.

The organizers will provide the space, instruments and some food over the weekend.
The weekend is run by women for women and is trans-inclusive.

Deadline for registration is wednesday 4th of August of July 2010.

Is a non-profit weekend that encourages, engages and showcases the musical, artistic and individual talents of girls and young women. It provides them with the opportunity to become self-reliant, confident and creative and who know that their voices have a right to be heard, regardless of their age, class, size, abilities, sexuality, gender identification, religion, ethnicity, race or experience.
