Submitted by editor on Thu, 07/23/2009 - 06:00
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/18/2009 - 06:00

Written By: Madian al Jazerah, co-owner of Books@Cafe This is about where we stand in hypocrisy and bigotry…and where we will be if we remain quiet. Books@Cafe and many other establishments have been closed this week. Here is what I witnessed and what happened to us at Books@Cafe: The night before Ramadan, the police violently stormed into the café and asked us to close down. “This is the holy month of Ramadan!” they barked. Since we are officially licensed and they could provide no official papers, we refused to close. Tutu chides Church stance on gaysSubmitted by editor on Mon, 11/19/2007 - 12:26
South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu has criticised the Anglican Church and its leadership for its attitudes towards homosexuality. In an interview with BBC Radio 4, he said the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, had failed to demonstrate that God is "welcoming". He also repeated accusations that the Church was "obsessed" with the issue of gay priests. He said it should rather be focusing on global problems such as Aids. "Our world is facing problems - poverty, HIV and Aids - a devastating pandemic, and conflict," said Archbishop Tutu, 76. Bird Flu is God’s punishment for gay marriage?!Submitted by editor on Wed, 03/22/2006 - 23:51
Rabbi David Basri, a prominent Kabbalah preacher, has attributed an outbreak of deadly bird flu in Israel to calls in election campaigns to legalise gay marriages. Basri’s son quoted his father in a religious edict saying “God punishes depravity first through plagues against animals and then in people.” It should be obvious, he concluded, that bird flu is caused by political parties “strengthening and encouraging homosexuality”. A devastating blow to twitchers everywhere, and pretty tough on the birds. |
